Located on the northern tip of Crow Point in Hingham, the Hingham Yacht Club (HYC) is a vibrant, family-oriented sailing club.
HYC is well-known for its long tradition of sailboat racing and its highly regarded junior sailing program.
Established in 1895, the Club operates seasonally from May to October with a full calendar of racing and social events for its members. In the past few years it has hosted the national championships for both the Rhodes 19 Fleet and the 210 Fleet, as well as several regional championships. The Hingham Bay Junior Regatta is the premier junior sailing event on the South Shore, and attracts young sailors from Maine to Cape Cod. Our junior sailing program has produced many fine racers who have gone on to success in college sailing and beyond.
Some of the popular social activities for members include weekly Wednesday Night Dinners, Adult Grill Nights featuring live music, Father's Day Brunch, Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show, Men’s Social, Flag Officers' Party, Clambake, and the End of Summer Party.
The Club prides itself on its customs and traditions and observes proper flag etiquette by coming to attention when the national colors are raised at 0800 hours each morning and lowered at sunset. Members can always tell when a flag officer is "on deck" by checking for the appropriate flag.
